项目介绍

1.Introduction

The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Established in 2004, with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education, we are run by the University of Nottingham in partnership with Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, a key player in the education sector in China.

We have more than 8,000 students and, each year, around 1,500 graduates with excellent academic qualifications, transferable skills, a creative outlook and a fresh perspective. They are in demand from employers around the globe who recognize the benefits of hiring talent with an international perspective.

We have around 880 teaching, research and professional services staff at UNNC, recruited from top universities, research institutes and companies from at least 40 countries worldwide. There are 25 world-class professors appointed through the Li Dak Sum Chair Professorship scheme. Their key research areas span across Marine Economics, New Materials, business innovation and more.

We are a fast growing hub for excellence in research, innovation and knowledge exchange. Driven by our collaboration with the Ningbo Government and industry partners, we provide solutions to local challenges through world-class research and innovation. Our research spans all faculties and disciplines and we have several centers and institutes that are committed to providing world-leading research relevant to China's interests and needs.

2.Project Background

The UNNC Business Development Office (BDO) has recently been established to develop and market commercial training and consultancy courses on behalf of the University, its Faculties and Schools. Our remit is to secure external revenue streams, build the UNNC training brand in key markets, develop educational products for external clients (primarily B2B but also B2C) and develop our business model and capacity to deliver such products. To support this, UNNC is building a large and state of the art executive education and incubator building which will open in 2021. Currently UNNC’s commercial training and consultancy portfolio includes, but is not limited to:

Faculty of Business:

· Executive education and training for Chinese companies (primarily large SOEs) looking to internationalize and for international companies looking to do business in China.

· Blockchain research and training from our Blockchain Lab.

· Accounting short courses and certification.

Nottingham Institute of Teaching Excellence (NITE). This is a collaborative platform for marketing teacher training, certification and consultancy programmes for our Center of English Language Education and School of Education and English.  

· Teacher training courses for teachers in bilingual and International schools, and Chinese state schools.

· Certification: Cambridge Professional Development Qualifications in Teaching and Learning and Educational Leadership (online courses), amongst others.

· Consultancy services for bilingual and international schools pre-opening, or for established state schools seeking to internationalize or set up an international department.

· Consultancy services for foreign schools seeking to establish a branch school in China.

Faculty of Science and Engineering:

· STEM short courses.  

Center of English Language Education

· Business English and English for Specific Purposes (e.g. medical English).

· Test preparation courses (IELTS etc.).

· Pre-sessional pathways and foundation programmes.

All faculties:

· Summer school programmes for high school, UG or PG students.

3.Requirements

UNNC is seeking to let framework contract for a maximum of 3 suppliers to provide us with specialist advice with the development of our Business Development Office. Once appointed, the specialist suppliers will have the opportunity to bid for work on a ‘call off’ basis. In this first phase of work, successful bidders will have the opportunity to bid for work, including:

a) Identification of and introduction to potential and suitable clients who are in buying mode for high value programmes.

b) Consultancy on developing UNNC commercial products, assisting us with the development of programmes that fit the market’s needs, and to develop our market niche and USP.

c) Consultancy with identifying suitable marketing channels for each commercial product, and on the design and content of marketing materials.

d) Consultancy with the preparation of business development business models and staffing capacity models from comparable institutions.

e) Consultancy on development of online training provision, including suitable online platforms and online business models.  

f) Consultancy on the identification and recruitment of ‘adjunct staff’ to work as guest lecturers and industry expert consultants on our programmes.

Individual bidders do not need to satisfy all of the requirements above. Providing they are successful with being appointed to a framework contract, they are able to bid on a ‘call off’ basis.
